Within the hospital, our interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists perform cardiac catheterizations, coronary stents, pacemakers, defibrillators, ablations (inlcuding atrial fibrillation ablation), peripheral angiograms and interventions, and carotid stents. In 1996, Cardiac Associates pioneered the emergency coronary angioplasty program at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Our speed in opening up blocked arteries of heart attack patients (door to balloon time) has consistently placed us among the top emergency angioplasty programs in Maryland. Cardiac Associates' leadership in the Shady Grove's angioplasty program has resulted in our interventional cardiologists now being able to perform elective angioplasty at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, beginning in 2009. Cardiac Associates established and directs the catheterization laboratories at Shady Grove Adventist and Laurel Regional Hospitals and directs the catheterization lab at Montgomery General Hospital. We also direct the chest pain centers at Shady Grove and Montgomery General Hospitals. Cardiac Associates is dedicated to giving back to the community. We have organized free health screenings in our offices and at senior centers. We have also given lectures at senior and community centers, at cardiac rehabiliation programs, and at the Verizon Center as part of National Women's Heart Health Fair. Cardiac Associates has a strong interest in preventive and rehabilitative cardiac care. We established and now help administer one of the largest and most comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation centers in Maryland. Services include access to exercise physiologists, nurses, stress counseling, smoking cessation and EECP (enhanced external counterpulsation). Our patients have access to the latest cardiovascular advances through our involvement in numerous clinical research protocols. Our physicians are leaders in the Washington, DC metro area and have been interviewed in the local media on heart health issues and implantable defibrillator devices.
